AirAsia X to launch European cargo service

MALAYSIA : AirAsia X announced (26-Feb-09) that it will commence its cargo service to and from Europe with the inception of its maiden flight on 11-Mar-09 between its hub in Kuala Lumpur and London, Stansted. The five times weekly direct flights which will be operated with an Airbus A340-300, is expected to carry around 8,000 kg of cargo per flight.

MALAYSIA : AirAsia X celebrated 100 days since launching its international route from Kuala Lumpur to Hangzhou. AirAsia X was the first ASEAN airline to commence direct services to Hangzhou from Kuala Lumpur with five weekly flights from 04-Feb-08. To commemorate the 100 days celebration, AirAsia X is offering promotional fares starting from CNY100. The promotional fares are available from 29-Apr-08 to 03-May-08 and for travel from 11-Jun-08 to 25-Sep-08.

MALAYSIA : AirAsia X announced plans to offer regular fares between Australia and London for A$1,000 (plus taxes/charges) from late 2008. CEO, Azran Osman-Rani told Peanuts.aero that services from Kuala Lumpur (KL) to London Stansted could commence by the end of 2008 using two leased A340s, subject to aircraft availability.

AirAsia X purchases 10 additional Airbus A330s

MALAYSIA : (XFN Asia) Long-haul low-cost carrier, AirAsia X, announced plans to purchase ten more Airbus A330-300 aircraft for USD2.1 billion, bringing AirAsia X’s fleet to a total of 25 aircraft. AirAsia X had previously signed an order with Airbus for 15 of the aircraft.
