VivaAerobus will cease its operations at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport effective 01-Jun-09. VivaAerobus operations included Austin to Cancun and Austin to Puerto Vallarta nonstop flights. The carrier’s final flights in Austin will be on 31-May-09.

vivaAerobus has launched a new product for all passengers that travel with only “carry on” luggage. VivaAerobus is now offering a USD10 discount on the total fare per one-way trip for all passengers that elect not to travel with checked baggage.

(CAPA) vivaAerobus is expected to commence operations to Austin, Texas by Spring 2008, pending the completion of a new, low cost terminal. The carrier changed its original start date in Nov-07 to Spring so that it may launch its services out of the new terminal rather than provide interim service from Austin-Bergstroms main terminal. The carrier has filed with the US Department of Transportation (DOT) to seek approval to operate from Austin to six destinations in Mexico.

(CAPA) Mexican LCC, vivaAerobus has applied (13-Aug-07) for US DOT authority for routes between Austin, Texas and the Mexican cities of Cancun, Guadalajara, Leon, Monterrey, Puebla, and Queretaro. All are new scheduled destinations from Austin, and will be operated with B737-300 equipment, subject to regulatory approval.

EVENDALE, Ohio April 17, 2007 Mexicos new low-fare carrier, vivaAerobus, has started operation of CFM56-3 engines incorporating CFM International's Advanced Upgrade. The airline has ordered kits to upgrade its entire fleet of 10 CFM56-3 engines.
