Blue1 starts operations between Helsinki and Brussels in cooperation with Brussels Airlines on March 29, 2010. The route will be operated twice daily from Monday to Friday and once on Sundays with AvroRJ85 aircraft.

The launch of Croatia as a new Blue1 destination last summer turned out to be such a success, that Blue1 will multiply next summer’s flights to Croatia starting early spring 2010.

The Finnish carrier Blue1 will join the Star Alliance Company Plus (SACP) programme in the UK and Ireland as of 02-Mar-09. To mark the expansion of the programme, triple points are being offered to customers, by all participating member airlines for all tickets booked on direct routes from the UK in Business Class during the month of March.

Blue1 announced to open a new route from Helsinki to Ivalo on 10-Feb-09. The route will be operated three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays until 03-May-09. The flights are operated with MD90 aircraft with a seating capacity of 166 seats.

Blue1 is the first airline in the world to adopt the ReadWeb technology, with which it is possible to hear the contents of web pages. The objective is to help those who face difficulties in reading texts from the screen for reasons such as dyslexia, or similar problems.

Blue 1 Oy has reported that the total number of passengers was 145,000 in Oct-08, down 15.8% vs last year. The total traffic decreased by 8.8% vs last year and the overall passenger load factor was 64.1%.

Finnish regional carrier, Blue1, which is a member of the SAS Group, signed a long-term lease extension with BAE Systems Regional Aircraft on one RJ85. This lease will see the aircraft operating in the Blue1 fleet well into the next decade.
