Viva Macau sets new record for international passengers to Macau

CHINA : Viva Macau Airlines, Macau’s international award-winning airline, today announced that it achieved a new record in December 2009 for total passengers carried internationally to and from Macau, with the best single day of international passenger volumes carried on December 30 2009 and with 198,820 passengers for the year from Vietnam, Indonesia, Japan and Australia.

CHINA : Melbourne Airport has welcomed Viva Macau’s decision to increase services from Melbourne, with an additional weekly flight commencing from March 28 this year. The announcement comes after Viva Macau’s decision to temporarily suspend its service to Sydney.

Viva Macau, which commenced operations in 2004, provides long haul operates from its home base in Macau. The airline currently operates a fleet of two B767 aircraft, but has plans to expand its fleet to 15 aircraft within five years. Currently, the airline operates services to Pusan, the Maldives, Jakarta and Sydney, but plans to expand this network and route frequencies as it receives additional aircraft.
