Overview - Jet4You Jet4you joins the Moroccan fray Following Atlas Blue into the Morocco-to-Europe fray is new carrier Jet4you, a private company that was formed in response to the open skies deal signed between the EU and Morocco. The company, which is owned by a consortium of local banks and investment funds, as well as the German travel company Tui and a local holiday enterprise, started operations in Mar-06 with two leased B737-400s. It still operates the same number of aircraft in connecting Paris Orly with tourist cities Marrakech and Fez, as well as beach resort destination Agadir. Jet4you, which plans to increase its fleet to ten aircraft by 2010, is using a codeshare with fellow Tui carrier Corsair, which is a well-known entity in the French travel market, to generate traffic out of Paris. Outlook not terribly rosy for small independent Jet4you is a bold attempt to crack into Europes holiday market from the destination side, but it has several critical factors working against it. It follows an affiliate of the national flag carrier into the market, and it approaches the task from the destination end of the equation – historically a considerably more difficult task than selling destinations from the origin. What is more, it will have to contend with increasing competition from Europes main LCCs – easyJet and Ryanair already serve Morocco. Thats a lot to tackle for a two-aircraft company.
