JAPAN : Skynet Asia Airways (SNA) of Japan today announced an order for its first Boeing Next-Generation 737-800. The aircraft will be leased from Dublin-based AWAS and go into service with SNA from summer of 2011, as the start of the airline’s fleet renewal program.

Skymark announces FY07 traffic result; passenger up 26%, load factor 77.2%

JAPAN : Skymark Airlines announced traffic results for FY07, with total passenger numbers up by 26% to 3.68 million from 2.91 million the year before. Load factor rose significantly from 63.7% to 77.2%, indicating that the airline has recovered from a fall in traffic which started from March 2006 when Skymark’s safety structure was questioned after a series of maintenance irregularities. The results also indicate that Skymark’s low pricing strategy has been generally successful.

Viva Macau, which commenced operations in 2004, provides long haul operates from its home base in Macau. The airline currently operates a fleet of two B767 aircraft, but has plans to expand its fleet to 15 aircraft within five years. Currently, the airline operates services to Pusan, the Maldives, Jakarta and Sydney, but plans to expand this network and route frequencies as it receives additional aircraft.

Under the agreement with Holiday Airlines Co Ltd, travellers will be offered services on regional carrier, Hong Kong Airlines, from Cheongju International Airport, North Chungcheong Province, to Hong Kong, and connecting services to London and Vancouver, Canada, on Oasis Hong Kong Airlines.
