Fly540 receives license

The conglomerate with a structured portfolio of African investments, is pleased to announce that it has been issued with an Air Services Licence ( ASL ) in Angola for its regional African airline, Fly540. The licence was issued on 28-Apr-09 at a formal meeting in Luanda with His Excellency Augusto da Silva Tomás, the Minister of Transport for Angola.

Boeing and Arik Air announced an order for an additional seven Next-Generation 737s at the Farnborough Airshow. The airline ordered 10 Next-Generation 737s in Sept-07 and now has a total of 17Next-Generation 737s on order.

LonZim to launch Fly540 pan-African low cost airline in Zimbabwe

(XFN Asia) LonZim Plc stated it will launch its pan-African airline, Fly540, in Zimbabwe. The company said it has allocated a budget of USD3.3 million payable out of its cash resources to establish the airline in Zimbabwe and buy the initial aircraft for its fleet. Fly540 Zimbabwe will operate as part of the Fly540 Africa network and offer domestic and regional 'low cost' air travel to existing and new target markets.

ATR and the pan-African investing conglomerate, Lonrho, announced the signature by Lonrho’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Lonrho Air, of a MoU for the purchase of two ATR 72-500s. The agreement follows a first order for eight new aircraft, announced in Jan-08. The ten new ATR 72-500s will be deployed by Fly540, an airline belonging to the conglomerate.
