JetBlue received FAA approval for four daily departure slots from Chicago OHare International Airport narrowly avoiding
new FAA anti-congestion rules, due to take effect at the end of the month, requiring new carriers at the airport to buy or lease available departure slots from existing carriers. The carrier originally requested permission for eight departure slots, but reduced this to four, due to concerns of overcrowding raised by American Airlines and United Airlines, the two largest carriers at the airport. JetBlue has not yet decided which cities it will launch services to, however, according to the FAA, it must commence operations from Chicago OHare by 27-Jan-07.
