AirAsia to develop Kuching as a global low cost hub
AirAsia stated it is on track to place Kuching on the global spotlight by enhancing Kuching’s international connectivity to become a global low cost hub. Already serving three international routes to Macau, Bali and Jakarta, AirAsia announced plans to increase its Macau route frequency from Kuching to daily flights, commencing 15-May-08. The route will be serviced by the AirAsia’s new 180-seater Airbus A320 aircraft.

 

AirAsia is the only airline to serve the international route to Macau from the hub which was introduced on 15-Nov-07, and is currently serving three flights weekly to Macau.

The Kuching hub serves seven domestic routes to Penang, Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru, Kota Kinabalu, Miri, Bintulu, Sibu and including the three international flights, Kuching hub serves a total of 163 flights per week.

In addition, AirAsia further enhanced its East Coast route connectivity by connecting Kuala Lumpur to Kuantan, which will commence from 01-Jun-08. The airline is currently running special promotional fares starting from MYR1 for the route.
