AirTran interested in US Airways-Delta gates

AirTran Airways confirmed (01-Dec-06) it was examining opportunities to acquire gates that could potentially be sold by US Airways or Delta Air Lines to address anti-trust concerns regarding their possible merger.

AirTran is interested in gates at New York La Guardia and Washington Regan airports. The announcement follows a similar statement of interest from Southwest Airlines in late Nov-06. Southwest confirmed it was interested in acquiring airport gates, particularly on the US East Coast, as well as aircraft, if they became available.
