AirAsia expands with new international services from Penang |

Currently, there are a total of 71 weekly services from Penang, among which the destinations are to Kuala Lumpur, Kuching, Kota Kinabalu, Johor Bahru and Bangkok.
Dato’ Tony Fernandes, Group Chief Executive Officer of AirAsia, said “It (Penang) is also geographically strategic with an excellent port for ships, access to the North-South highway and the railroad and now, has additional international air connectivity. We are also proud with the fact that Penang was announced to be the next Cyber City in the national roll-out of the Northern Corridor Economic Region (NCER) by the Prime Minister in 2007… and to celebrate this joyous occasion, we are giving away 15,000 free seats to Medan and another 15,000 to Jakarta from Penang.”
The free seats promotion is available from Penang to Medan and Jakarta, and is offered through online bookings from 05-Mar-08 to 16-Mar-08 for travel period beginning 30-Mar-08 to 11-Jan-09.
Meanwhile, AirAsia announced it is offering 20,000 free seats for its new routes from its hub in Jakarta. These new routes are: Pekan Baru–Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta–Kuching and Jakarta-Kota Kinabalu.
In addition, the carrier announced that in conjuction with the free seats promotions, AirAsia will also be offering 10,000 free seats for its newly launched routes from its Johor Baharu hub which include Johor Bahru–Medan and Johor Bahru–Surabaya. The free seats promotion for the Johor Bahru new routes is available through online bookings from 05-Mar-08 to 09-Mar-08 for travel period beginning 01-Apr-08 to 11-Jan-09.
