Lion Air, Boeing announces order for 56 B737s
Lion Air and Boeing announced an order for 56 Next-Generation B737-900ER aircrafts at the Singapore Air Show, worth more than USD4.4 billion at list prices. The order brings Lion Air's combined orders for the B737s to 178. The carrier also acquired purchase rights for an additional 50 B737-900ERs.

Boeing launched the B737-900ER programme in Jul-05 when Lion Air announced the initial order for 30 of the newest B737 model. All of Lion Air's aircrafts will be equipped with performance-enhancing Blended Winglets, which improve fuel efficiency and reduce CO2 emissions by up to 4%.

Lion Air received its first B737-900ER in Apr-07. The carrier has received a total of nine B737-900ERs to date and operates an all-Boeing fleet.

In announcing the order, Lion Air Founder and President Director, Rusdi Kirana, stated "The Next-Generation B737 is the right airplane for our airline, our customers and our growing route structure."
