Virgin America launches service to San Diego

Virgin America launched services between its base of San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and San Diego International Airport (SAN) on 13-Feb-08. Virgin America will offer three daily flights to SAN, which will expand to five daily flights on 09-Mar-08.

Virgin America is a U.S. controlled and operated airline with no relation to Virgin Atlantic. The Virgin Group is a minority share investor in the airline.

The carrier’s base of operations is San Francisco International Airport's International Terminal. The carrier has plans to serve as many as 10 cities within a year of operation, and up to 30 cities within five years.
