Sama launches service to Beirut
Sama launched service from Jeddah to Beirut, Lebanon on 14-Jan-08. The carrier plans to operate six weekly services between Saudi Arabia and Beirut, with services originating in Riyadh and Jeddah.

Andrew Cowen, CEO of Sama, stated the he was “delighted” to announce the carrier’s first international charter flight to Beirut. The new route is in response to “overwhelming public demand” for services between Saudi Arabia and Lebanon. Beirut is one of the most popular and preferred destinations for our guests. Mr Cowen thanked the General Authority for Civil Aviation of both countries for their “trust and support of Sama” and help in facilitating the licenses required to serve the route.

Sama has also launched a frequent flyer and loyalty programme “Frequent Traveller”, the first of its kind for a LCC in Saudi Arabia. Under the programme, the carrier will offer its loyalty programme a free ticket to any of its international or domestic destinations for every nine tickets collected, irrespective of the destinations or number of miles travelled. This is meant to reward our passengers who travel with us, regardless of the number of miles or destinations that have been travelled.

Under its commitment as a Saudi national carrier, the carrier is also adopting a 50% discounting programme for domestic flights from the last week of Jan-08.

The carrier recently took delivery of its third B737-200, which has been allocated to operations in the northern provinces of Saudi Arabia.
