The service will be operated three times weekly, with Vueling forecasting 45,000 passengers will be carried on the route in the first 12 months of operation.
Juan Carlos Iglesias, Vueling Chief Sales Officer declares, “We’ve bet upon expanding the routes we operate from Madrid to destinations like Malta, which is especially attractive to tourists. Malta has become one of the most popular tourist destinations of the holiday season, thanks to its Mediterranean Sea enclave. Vueling will be the first company to operate regular flights between the capital of Spain and the capital of Malta the whole year round at extremely competitive prices. We hope people will flock to the route as much as they have to those to Nice, Naples and Athens.”
Together with its route to Malta, the airline places on sale almost half of the seats for its 2008 Summer schedule, to come into effect from 30-Mar-08, with nearly 16,000 flights and 3 million seats on offer.
In three and a half years of operation, Vueling has established a network of destinations in Europe and has four different headquarters. From Barcelona El Prat Airport, the LCC operates to 16 destinations, from Madrid Barajas International Airport to 15 cities, from Paris Charles de Gaulle to 13 and from its recently inaugurated base in Seville to a further nine destinations. At present, Vueling currently operates a fleet of 24 A320s and has carried over more than 12 million passengers.
