Compared to full year 2006, the airline ended 2007 with a record load factor of 80.7%, full year capacity growth of 16.1% and traffic (RPM) growth of 19.9%.
Sean Durfy, WestJet President and CEO commented, "Driven by a healthy Canadian economy and the superior value we deliver to our guests, our December traffic results capped off a record fourth quarter and 2007.
"These results are a strong springboard to 2008. Despite the rising price of oil, we are confident our plans for the coming year remain on track. We look forward to beginning scheduled service to our newest Hawaiian destination of Kona in January. We ended 2007 with a fleet of 70 Boeing Next-Generation 737s and believe we are well positioned to add seven more aircraft in 2008. With 16% more capacity to be added in 2008, our network and schedule will provide even more choice and value for our guests."
Mr Durfy added, "In December the weather challenged our WestJetters and they came through with flying colours. RASM for the month showed improvement over December 2006. I have great admiration and appreciation for our people who delivered record high load factors throughout the year while maintaining a level of service that is unrivaled."
