flyMonarch.com launches self service check-in at Birmingham Airport
(CAPA) flyMonarch.com has launched a new self service check-in system at Birmingham Airport, which will speed up the overall check-in process and reduce the amount of time passengers spend queuing to check in.

The new Common Use Self Service kiosks (CUSS), which are situated in the middle of the concourse of Terminal 1 at Birmingham Airport, will enable passengers traveling on scheduled Monarch services to retrieve their booking (by swiping their passport through the machine), check themselves in for their flight and print their boarding card. Any pre-allocated seats will automatically be assigned, and if no seat has been pre-booked, the passenger will be given the option to select their seat from those remaining in the cabin.

Passengers traveling with hold baggage can then take these to the ‘fast bag drop’ desk, where they will be tagged as normal and sent down the baggage belt to be loaded on to the aircraft.

Commenting on the introduction of self-service check-in, Liz Savage, Managing Director of flyMonarch.com said, “Monarch is the first low-fares airline to launch the new CUSS kiosks at Birmingham Airport’s Terminal 1 and we are confident that our passengers will very quickly realise the benefits of using them.”

“We consistently try to improve the levels of service we provide for our passengers and the new CUSS kiosks, in addition to online check-in which launched last year, will help us to do this by streamlining the check-in process and shortening queues at the airport. We successfully launched CUSS services in Manchester last Summer and have seen up to 20% of passengers using the facility to avoid the check-in queues so we are delighted to now be offering the service from Birmingham as well.“
