2.8 million Air Berlin passengers in Oct-07
(CAPA) Air Berlin and its fully-owned subsidiary, LTU, transported 2.8 million passengers in Oct-07, a 11.3% year-on-year increase. Load factor increased 2.5 percentage points year-on-year to 81.7%. Flight Revenue per available seat kilometre (ASK) amounted to EUR 4.99 cents, a slight decrease of 0.44% year-on-year.

 

The number of passengers welcomed on board between Jan-07 and Oct-07 reached 23.9 million, a 9.5% year-on-year increase. During the same time period, load factor improved 1.4 ppts to 78.2%.

The following German airports recorded exceptional growth for Air Berlin: Berlin-Tegel (+41.6%), Stuttgart (+38.7%), Nuremberg (+30.6%) and Munich (+28.6%). Outside of Germany, Copenhagen took the lead with an increase of 72.2%, followed by Vienna (+23.3 %) and Tenerife South (+21.4%).

As Ulf Hüttmeyer, Air Berlin’s Chief Financial Officer, stated: "We are quite pleased with the way passenger figures developed in October, although we would have envisioned a slightly better yield. So far, we have not yet been able to fully optimise yield management and capacity control in the course of LTU’s integration."
