New faces at the Air Berlin Group
(CAPA) Air Berlins Board of Directors on 06-Nov-07 appointed Helmut Weixler as LTUs Managing Director for Flight Operations and as Accountable Manager.

 

Mr Weixler initially worked as a pilot at Aero-Dienst and subsequently held various executive positions from 1985 to 2003, including the position of Deputy Director of Operations at LTU Düsseldorf. In Jan-04, he transferred to Etihad Airways in Abu Dhabi as Head of Flight Operations and was appointed Vice-President of Operations shortly afterwards. In Jun-07, MR Wweixier took over the management of dba’s Flight Operations. Jürgen Marbach will remain the spokesman for LTU’s Management.

Meanwhile, Joachim Hunold, Air Berlin’s CEO, has assumed the position of Chairman of LTU’s Board of Directors. Air Berlin’s Managing Directors, Elke Schütt, Ulf Hüttmeyer and Karl F Lotz, are also on LTU’s Board of Directors.

On the employer’s side, the Board of Directors is strengthened by the Düsseldorf-based certified public accountant, Burchard von Arnim (Arnim Private Consulting) and the Munich-based attorney, H Eberhard Simon (BTU Group). The staff representatives are Hans Jürgen Fath, Yvonne Gier, Peter Büddicker, Uwe Leyh, Wilfried Schläger and Rolf Wagner.

As of 01-Oct-07, Karl F Lotz, a member of Air Berlin’s Management Board, has directly taken over the duties of Accountable Manager at Air Berlin from CEO Joachim Hunold.

Bernd Schniering and Dr Klaus Weirich will be taking over the management of Air Berlin Luftfahrttechnik Düsseldorf and will be steering the separation of Maintenance and the transition thereof into the new company, Air Berlin Technik Ltd.

Bernd Schniering, who until recently was Air Berlin’s Deputy Technical Manager, will hold the position of Accountable Manager at AB Luftfahrttechnik Düsseldorf. Klaus Weirich will be taking over Commercial Operations. Until recently, Mr Weirich was CFO and a member of the Management Board of the airline company, LTU Lufttransport-Unternehmen.

At the same time, Klaus Weirich, together with Air Berlin’s Technical Director, Siegfried Olivo, will be taking over the management of Air Berlin Technik, under the umbrella of which Air Berlin Luftfahrttechnik Düsseldorf and Air Berlin Technik Berlin will be operated.
