"To date, 2007 has been a very positive year as we maintain focus on our vision of being one of the five most successful international airlines in the world. In many areas, WestJet is already a leading performer and one of the healthiest airlines worldwide," commented WestJet President and CEO, Sean Durfy.
"September's RASM was very positive. This is a direct result of the implementation of our strategy and the commitment of each and every WestJetter to the guest experience.
"Early bookings for our expanding Caribbean and Mexican destinations of Mazatlan, Montego Bay, Puerto Plata, Punta Cana and Cabo San Lucas are exceeding expectations”.
Meanwhile, WestJet announced the introduction of new seasonal service from Toronto to St Lucia, from 16-Dec-07. WestJet's enhanced Winter schedule also includes new service from Hamilton to Nassau, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando and Tampa.
"St Lucia represents the fifth international country for scheduled service," said Chris Avery, WestJet Vice-President, Network and Revenue Management. "These announcements are part of WestJet's measured expansion plans to fly to over 60 destinations by 2013. Our fleet of 68 Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft is perfectly suited for these destinations”.
"Over the past three years, WestJet has grown to 19 sun destinations offering guests across Canada the opportunity to travel South in the Winter. WestJet also recently announced the addition of six other new hot spots: Montego Bay (Jamaica), Puerto Plata (Dominican Republic) and Punta Cana (Dominican Republic), Mazatlan (Mexico), Cabo San Lucas (Mexico) and Kona (Hawaii)."
