With the significant increase of the number of frequencies and the quality of the product, the airline is focused on a business and lifestyle strategy and becoming the most attractive and preferred airline in Bulgaria.
Last year SkyEurope transported nearly 50,000 passengers to/from Bulgaria. By the end of this year the airline is planning to reach a number of 140,000 passengers and to increase its frequencies to Vienna due to strong business demand on the market. This August, the airline has obtained a load factor of 91%, the highest in the history of SkyEurope in Bulgaria.
From 28-Oct-07, SkyEurope is introducing a new timetable to/from Vienna. Besides the new double daily services connecting the Bulgarian capital with Vienna, SkyEurope is launching new direct Sky links between Sofia and 11 European destinations, including Amsterdam (daily), Brussels (daily), Paris (daily), Nice (three times weekly), Venice (three times weekly), Innsbruck (daily), Warsaw (daily), Krakow (four times weekly), Athens (four times weekly), Thessaloniki (three times weekly) and Bratisalava (twice daily).
All the services will be operated by brand new B737-700 aircraft. SkyEurope’s fleet has an average age of nine months per aircraft.
SkyEurope’s services between Sofia and the 11 new destinations will be operated via Vienna, which is the main hub of SkyEurope. SkyEurope is also planning further growth on Bulgarian market with potential plan of new direct services from Sofia and is even evaluating the possibilities to create its own base in Sofia.
“The launch of the double daily flights between Sofia and Vienna reflects our strategy to focus on developing of a business tailored and lifestyle product, whilst keeping our price leadership on the market. SkyEurope will stop the monopoly position of Austrian Airlines in Bulgaria and will offer top quality services, tailor made to the business travellers needs. We are democratizing air travel and stimulating people to fly more while liberalizing the market between Sofia and Vienna. SkyEurope is already the preferred airline on this route. Our target is to offer affordable travel to the most attractive fashion European destinations such as Paris, Amsterdam, Brussels, Nice, Venice, and Innsbruck and to offer very comfortable connections to Poland and Greece from Sofia. Bulgaria is one of the key markets for SkyEurope and we are willing to develop Sofia as our future base,” said Karim Makhlouf – CCO of SkyEurope.
