Air Berlin/LTU receives approval from Spain

(CAPA) The Spanish Tribunal de defensa de la competencia has approved the take-over of LTU by Air Berlin.
The Spanish cartel office had previously passed the case on to a special court dealing with competition issues (Tribunal de defensa de la competencia) because of its importance to the Spanish market.
Air Berlin was already the largest foreign airline operating in Spain at the time. The court decided on 07-Sep-07 that it will not oppose the merger after considering the effects on the competition.
