Air Berlin cleared for participation in Belair
(CAPA) Both the German Federal Cartel Office and the European Commission negated the obligation to register the Air Berlin participation of 49% in the Swiss airline, Belair Airlines. The same had previously been declared by the Swiss Cartel Office. Based on this, the way has been cleared for a participation of Air Berlin.

Belair is a subsidiary of the Hotelplan Group, which is wholly owned by the Migros business group. At present, Belair runs three aircrafts: two B 757-200s and one B767-300. Whereas Air Berlin aims at intensifying their activities in the Swiss market, Hotelplan derives an advantage from integrating Belair into the sales and logistics of Air Berlin. "Now even starting from Switzerland, we can serve all international lines," Joachim Hunold, the Chairman of the Executive Board of Air Berlin, stated.
