vivaAerobus applies for DOT approval for six new routes

(CAPA) Mexican LCC, vivaAerobus has applied (13-Aug-07) for US DOT authority for routes between Austin, Texas and the Mexican cities of Cancun, Guadalajara, Leon, Monterrey, Puebla, and Queretaro. All are new scheduled destinations from Austin, and will be operated with B737-300 equipment, subject to regulatory approval.
vivaAerobus CEO, Mike Szucs, commented, “We have had huge support from the Mexican and U.S. authorities for the commencement of our services between Austin and Mexico. We hope to receive all formal approvals by mid Sep-07.”
“Austin will be the first city in the US to have the ultra low cost vivaAerobus,” said Jim Smith, Executive Director of Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.
