Allegiant Air announces next new base in Fort Lauderdale
(CAPA) Allegiant Air announced it will establish a new base in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, with service commencing from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport on 14-Nov-07.

Allegiant plans to launch the new service from 12 markets, 11 of which are already served by the LCC. The first route will be announced and available for purchase on 09-Aug-07. The remaining 11 routes will all be announced before the end of the year.  

"We're extremely pleased to add sunny Fort Lauderdale to our growing roster of world-class vacation destinations," Maurice J Gallagher Jr, Allegiant Travel Company President and CEO, said. "This is an exciting new market for our airline and our customers”.  

Allegiant will base a 150-seat MD-80 series aircraft at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport by the end of 2007. Fort Lauderdale will serve as the fifth base for the Las Vegas-based airline, which also serves McCarran International Airport (Las Vegas), Orlando Sanford International Airport and St Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport. Starting 25-Oct-07, the carrier will also commence service to Phoenix, Arizona from 13 cities through the Williams Gateway Airport.

Allegiant Air currently provides scheduled service to more than 50 cities across the US, with 42 routes from Las Vegas, 26 routes from Orlando and 14 routes to the Tampa Bay area. In addition to its scheduled service, the airline also operates charter service throughout the US, Mexico and Canada.
