Air Deccan's A320 first to land on Vishakapatnam Airport new runway
(CAPA): Air Deccan announced it was the first carrier to land an Airbus A320 at Vishakapatnam Airport on 10 July 2007. The airport recently undertook a runway extension, making it possible for the aircraft to land there.

The new 180 seater A320 started its first flight connecting Vishakapatnam to Kolkata on 10-July-07. This city pair is not serviced by any other airline and Air Deccan is the only airline connecting Vishakapatnam to Kolkata.

Air Deccan CEO, Ramki Sundaram said, “the new upgraded runway and night landing facility at Vizag Airport will enable us to provide more connectivity to Vizag. Vizag is an important city for Air Deccan. Not only is it the second largest city in Andhra Pradesh but is developing into an attractive proposition for IT companies which are setting up infrastructure at a rapid pace. There is huge business and tourism potential at Vizag which we believe will be fuelled further by Air Deccan’s low cost connectivity.”
