Iberia Airport Services to supply handling services to airberlin in Canary Island This agreement will strengthen and extend Iberia’s services to the German company, which it already provides in another six Spanish airports. In 2010 Iberia handled more than 3,000 airberlin aircraft.
Data for 2010 and projections for 2011 indicate that the new agreement will add eight points to Iberia Airport Services’ market share in these three Canary Island airports.
Iberia’s Airports Division Manager Eduardo García Sansigre commented: “This agreement is good news for two reasons. First because it strengthens commercial relation with an important operator like airberlin, for which we already provide handling services in another six Spanish airports and which next year will join us as a full member of the oneworld alliance, and second because it reinforces Iberia’s position as a handling agent in the Canary Islands and attests to our company’s commitment to this sector of the aviation business.”
airberlin’s Corporate Director of Contracting and Prices, Norbert Bentele, said: “airberlin is very happy to broaden our successful cooperation with Iberia Airport Services. We’re certain that this extension of our existing arrangements will strengthen our relations and lead to new milestones in the future.”
The new contract was signed by Bentele and by airberlin’s Contracting and Prices Manager Torsten Frauenhahn, as well as by García Sansigre and Iberia’s Assistant Airports Sales Manager José Gómez Pérez.
