Finnair's cooperation with Jetstar opens doors to Australia and New Zealand

Finnair's cooperation with Jetstar opens doors to Australia and New Zealand
Finnair launched a new interline agreement with Australian airline, Jetsar, expanding the network connections in the Asia-Pacific area. The cooperation started in December 2010 and allows customers to purchase a Jetstar, Jetstar Asia, Valuair or Jetstar Pacific flight as part of a single integrated transaction and travel itinerary through Finnar’s distribution network and sold on a Finnair e-ticket.

Finnair customers will be able to connect onto Jetstar’s network in Osaka, Tokyo, Bangkok, Hong Kong and in May 2011 also Singapore, when Finnair commences its daily operations with the Airbus 330 aircraft. The new Finnair-Jetstar interline agreement will improve access and capacity to Australia and New Zealand service.

"The Finnair clientele in Northern Europe benefits greatly of the new destination coverage in Australasia provided by the Jetstar service network. The new interline agreement makes travelling to and from the destinations covered by the new partnership easy and convenient, and provide real value for the travelling customers. This cooperation complements greatly the new Finnair service to the new hub of Jetstar, Singapore, commencing May 2011," says Paavo Virkkunen, Finnair Vice President Alliances & Global Partnerships.

Jetstar is Australia's and Singapore's airline for Australia and the Asia-Pacific. Jetstar's Australian operation is wholly owned by Finnair´s oneworld partner Qantas but is managed separately and operates independently.

Jetstar operates an extensive domestic network in Australia as well as regional and international services from its main base at Melbourne Airport. For example in New Zealand Jetstar operates to Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Queenstown and in the Asia-Pacific area, for example to Bali, Jakarta, Ho Chi Minh City, Phuket, Kuala Lumpur and Manila using a mixed fleet of Airbus A320, A321 and A330`s.
