AirAsia launches new hubs in Sabah and Sarawak

AirAsia confirmed (02-Jun-06) plans to develop Kota Kinabalu and Kuching, in Sabah and Sarawak respectively, as operational hubs by Jul-06.

As part of the expansion, AirAsia will launch services from Kota Kinabalu to Miri and Tawau and from Kuching to Bintulu, Sibu, Miri and Kota Kinabalu in Jul-06. The carrier plans to expand its network in the future, including increasing frequency to its two other Malaysian hubs of Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru.
