easyJet, the UK's largest airline, is set to launch a new route between Edinburgh and Basel, Switzerland, with tickets going on sale today (Thursday 1 July).

From 3 December 2010 easyJet will provide Scottish travellers with a four-times-weekly service (running Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday).

And with fares starting at just £25.99 (one-way) a trip from Scotland’s historical capital to the cultural capital of Switzerland is more accessible than ever.

Paul Simmons, UK regional general manager of easyJet, said: “Basel is a city full of culture, history and leisure and we are delighted to offer our Scottish travellers the chance to visit this great location.

“This new route is a superb addition to our Edinburgh portfolio which now boasts a fantastic choice of 18 routes across Europe.”

easyJet operates flights to an array of destinations from Edinburgh airport – Alicante, Amsterdam, Basel, Belfast Int, Bristol, Geneva, Krakow, Lisbon, London Gatwick, Luton, Stansted, Lyon, Madrid, Majorca, Milan, Munich, Nice and Paris.
