From 29th November 2010 until 1st April 2011 Air Berlin will be operating a nonstop service from Hanover and Stuttgart to this new destination in Lapland. Feeder flights within Germany are available from Berlin-Tegel, Düsseldorf, Hamburg and Munich. Air Berlin is the only airline offering scheduled flights to this destination from Germany.
Since it is only about 100 km from the Arctic Circle, snow in Arvidsjaur is guaranteed throughout the winter season. The region of the same name also has 15,000 reindeer and 4,000 lakes. Furthermore, visitors can stay at one of the local ice hotels and enjoy the 400 km snow scooter route to make this an unforgettable holiday experience.
The world’s leading test facilities for the automotive industry are also located at Arvidsjaur. Numerous international car manufacturers, including Audi, Porsche and Volkswagen, as well as suppliers to the industry, test their products here at subarctic conditions.
Flights to Arvidsjaur and back take off every Monday and Friday. The Air Berlin plane leaves Stuttgart at 10:20 h to touch down in Lapland just three hours later. The return flight takes off at 14:00 h and is back in Stuttgart at 16:50 h. The aircraft setting off from Hanover leaves at 08:40 h to arrive in Arvidsjaur at 11:05 h. The return trip takes off at 12.30 h, landing in Hanover at 14:55 h.
