Wizz Air takes delivery of its first purchased A320 aircraft

Wizz Air, the largest low cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe has taken delivery of the first of 32 directly purchased A320s, featuring the new A320 family cabin, designed to give passengers more space and a quieter travel experience.
The latest A320 models also feature additional advanced aerodynamics helping reduce fuel burn even further.
Similarly to all of Wizz Air’s fleet, this aircraft will be powered by International Aero Engines V2500 and will be configured in a comfortable single-class layout seating 180 passengers.
Upon completion of deliveries of all the 32 orders and the additional 12 options, Wizz Air would be operating 53 aircraft by 2011. The continuous deliveries over the next 5 years ensure Wizz Air will keep operating one the youngest and most modern aircraft fleets in the world.
Wizz Air, which already operates an all-Airbus fleet of nine A320s, will be using the new aircraft to reinforce its position in its existing markets in CEE as well as expand into new geographies.
Jozsef Varadi, Chief Executive Officer of Wizz Air, stated “we are committed to IAE powered Airbus aircraft that has been a significant pillar of our success to-date. Our all common A320 fleet allows us to achieve the lowest unit cost in the region while maintaining operational reliability and customer service excellence".
Features: The new cabin, as the latest A320 innovation, effectively reinforces the high level of passenger comfort. The new design gives more space at shoulder level, 15% more useable overhead stowage volume and a measurable noise reduction in the cabin, combined with state of the art design features. Furthermore, material weight reduction in the cabin makes the aircraft more fuel efficient.
Over 5000 Airbus A320 Family have been sold and over 3000 delivered to more than 180 customers and operators worldwide, making it the world’s best selling single aircraft family ever.
