US investor raises stake in Malaysia's AirAsia to 5.5%

KUALA LUMPUR (XFN-ASIA) - US-based Wellington Management Co LLP has raised its stake in budget carrier AirAsia Bhd to 5.5%, after acquiring some 11.62 million shares between April 12 to May 3 via open market transactions, according to a stock exchange filing.

As of May 4, Wellington Management owned 12.963 mln shares in AirAsia, according to the filing.

The filing did not provide the purchase price of the shares.
