With the support of an additional three A320 aircraft in its Singapore fleet over the next year, Jetstar will commence double daily A320 Singapore-Phuket* services to Thailand’s popular holiday resort centre from 15 December 2009*.
Its existing daily Singapore-Manila service will also grow by an additional three weekly services* to a total 10 weekly return flights from 25 October 2009*.
The new services are subject regulatory approval.
Representing part of a planned 46 per cent growth in operating capacity over the next year as part of the further development of Jetstar’s Pan Asian network, the new services have been launched with every day all-inclusive one-way JetSaver Light fares at Jetstar.com from S$58 Singapore-Phuket* and S$138 Singapore-Manila.
To celebrate the launch of Singapore-Phuket* services, Jetstar is offering special all-inclusive one-way JetSaver Light fares from $8 between 9am and 8pm today, Thursday 20 August 2009, at Jetstar.com for a strictly limited period unless seats sell out prior.
Valid for travel between 12 January 2010 – 9 February 2010, 23 February 2010 – 10 March 2010, and 23 March 2010 – 26 May 2010. Conditions and travel periods apply. Visit Jetstar.com.
Passengers seeking low fares travel to Manila are encouraged to check out Jetstar’s regular Friday Fare Frenzy tomorrow afternoon between 2pm and 6pm at Jetstar.com for some extremely competitive sale fares.
Jetstar Asia and Valuair Chief Executive Officer Chong Phit Lian said the new services represent almost 6,000 new, incremental weekly seats into and out of Singapore and will be directly supported by the introduction of an eighth A320 from December.
Ms Chong said the new flying would also include Jetstar’s first scheduled low fare operations into mainland China and were part of the carrier’s next strategic stage to build its low fare services across South East Asia under the Jetstar brand.
“It comes off the back of positive developments Jetstar has made over recent months including expansion of Malaysian services to Penang, our new multi-million dollar regional marketing campaign and commencement of our interline agreement with Qantas that will provide improved access to our services to a wider segment of customers,” Ms Chong said.
“We see some excellent market opportunities for Jetstar and will in the future serve 18 destinations directly from Singapore as Phuket flights come on line and Manila flights are increased.”
Jetstar’s new twice daily Singapore-Phuket* marks a re-entry for Jetstar Asia into Phuket, and will also allow for travelers from Perth in Australia to fly one stop to the holiday destination, whilst also providing a valuable new source market across Jetstar’s growing intra Asian network.
Jetstar from Australia operates services between Sydney and Phuket three times weekly with its two class A330-200 fleet.
The new services will see the Jetstar Group operate nearly 7,000 weekly seats into and out of Phuket and in total over 16,000 weekly seats into Thailand.
Jetstar now operates a daily Singapore-Manila service after first launching low fare flights in April 2005.
“Manila has always been a strong performer for us and we believe the new services will be well received,” Ms Chong said.
“Sustainable growth is clearly on our agenda. In coming months we also welcome more services out of Singapore to Penang* (rising to double daily from 1 October) and Bangkok* (rising from two to three times daily from 27 September).”
All day, every day all-inclusive JetSaver Light fares from Singapore-Phuket* start from S$58, while all day every day all-inclusive JetSaver Light fares from Singapore-Manila start from S$138 at Jetstar.com.
Jetstar Asia operates from Terminal One at Changi International Airport.
