To celebrate the special occasion Airport staff surprised the first passenger to check-in and informed them that by checking-in on the first flight to Palma they had won two return flights from Liverpool to another Ryanair destination; Ancona situated on the east of Italy courtesy of Ryanair. John and Jeanette Forster from Liverpool, were travelling to the holiday island for a short break and were delighted with their prize.
Next month Ryanair's service to Alicante, on Mainland Spain will begin on Thursday 19th April operating every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. These two new additions expands the number of routes currently served by Ryanair from Liverpool to 35.
Robin Tudor, General Manager, Corporate and Community Affairs for John Lennon Airport, commented: “Ryanair's latest addition will prove to be a big hit with passengers in the North West. The island of Majorca is undoubtedly a holiday hot spot among British travellers and we're delighted to offer more passengers the convenience of being able to travel from their local airport to this popular destination. With 5 million passengers per year now choosing to fly from JLA, this route along with other Spanish destinations is set to do well not only with holidaymakers but also with those opting for a City break or travelling on business.”
Elaine Duff, Ryanair's UK Marketing Executive, said: "We are proud to be extending Ryanair's route network from Liverpool by launching today's new service to Palma. We now offer a choice of 35 fantastic low fares destinations from Liverpool.
"This is Ryanair's first route to Majorca and we will also inaugurate a service from London Stansted on April 23. Palma is a major city, the port of Majorca, and is the capital of the popular Balearic Islands. Every year more than fifteen million tourists visit the island for sea, sun and sangria. It's the holiday island that never sleeps!
"Palma is Majorca's economic and cultural hub. Located on the south coast, it offers the island's best choice of hotels, restaurants and widest choice of entertainment."
