Senator Hutchison urges FAA nominee to make NextGen a top priority

Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-Texas), Ranking Member of the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee, told (19-May-09) the nominee to head the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), J Randolph Babbitt that NextGen should be a top priority.

Senator Hutchison said, “It is extremely important we get a strong and stable leadership team in place at the FAA.  In the wake of recent accidents and the questions raised by those tragic incidents regarding pilot training and competence, it is imperative that we have a qualified and able Administrator overseeing the response. This is also going to be a critical year for aviation policy and NextGen implementation should be one of your highest priorities.”
