Volaris to launch Oakland-Toluca and Guadalajara services

Volaris Airlines, headquartered in Santa Fe, Mexico DF, announced (27-Apr-09) plans to begin low-cost, nonstop flights between Oakland International Airport (OAK) and both Toluca and Guadalajara, Mexico, beginning 02-Jul-09.
Volaris Airlines, cuya base está en Santa Fe, acaba de anunciar (27 Abr 09) sus planes de ofrecer vuelos entre el Aeropuerto Internacional de Oakland con las ciudades mexicanas de Toluca y Guadalajara el próximo 2 de julio de 2009.
Toluca International Airport is located just 45 minutes from central Mexico. Guadalajara is a popular destination with Mexican nationals visiting friends and relatives, as well as those doing business in this growing high-tech arena.
Director of aviation for the Port of Oakland, which owns and operates OAK, Steve Grossman said, “We are pleased that Volaris selected Oakland International Airport, after evaluating more than a dozen airports nationwide, for their US launch. The two daily nonstop flights, which represent a USD50 million aircraft investment in Oakland, are an important vote of confidence for the San Francisco Bay Area. Volaris is taking the right step in what will prove to be a bright future for the airline here at Oakland and in the US”
Volaris and Southwest Airlines have announced their intention to enter a codeshare agreement beginning in spring 2010. The airlines are creating a business partnership that will enable their customers to travel between a variety of destinations in both the US and Mexico. Travelers can look forward to convenient connecting flights on both Volaris and Southwest, as well as purchase tickets on each others websites.
