From 20-Apr-09 there will be one return flight a day, six days per week - Sunday to Friday - between Cardiff and Aberdeen. Fares are from GBP44.99 one way, including all taxes and fees.
This new addition to the Flybe network from Cardiff offers a convenient connection for people commuting between Wales and Aberdeen and working in the oil and gas industry - a hugely important sector to the economies of both regions.
The service is also expected to meet the growing demands of business travellers, students, tourists and local residents travelling to Aberdeen and the surrounding area.
Announcing the new route at Cardiff Airport today, Loganair's commercial director, Jonathan Hinkles said: "Journeys between south Wales and Aberdeen have, up to now, been extremely challenging despite the strong business links between the two regions.
"We're delighted that the first ever non-stop Cardiff flights have already proven highly popular with customers, judging by the strong advance bookings for the new route.
"Despite the wider troubles facing the UK economy at the moment, it's clear that customers are still keen to take advantage of Flybe'w w s great value fares on convenient, non-stop flights from their local airport."
Managing Director of Cardiff Airport, Patrick Duffy added, "We're pleased to see flights to Aberdeen taking off from Cardiff as it looks set to be a popular route with Welsh passengers and will increase the route network to Scotland even further with frequent operations to Glasgow and Edinburgh already available.
"The results of our business travel survey 'You would if you could' proved there is demand for the service, as Aberdeen was the most travelled to destination not served from the capital. We are therefore confident that Loganair and Flybe will be able to make the route a success and look forward to working with them moving forward."
The 34-seat Saab 340 will depart Cardiff at 1515 and arrive in Aberdeen at 1700. Return flights will depart Aberdeen at 1300, arriving in Cardiff at 1445 and will be operated under the Flybe banner.
