Sterling Air and Lufthansa sign five-year contract
The Danish airline Sterling Air has signed (04-Mar-09) a five-year contract with Lufthansa Systems, a German IT services provider, to implement the flight management system database.

The airline is operating its European medium-haul flights with Lufthansa Systems's navigation data for cockpit systems.

According to Lufthansa Systems, the flight management system (FMS) database contains all important route information including altitude and airport data for optimizing routes and supporting autopilots on board modern aircraft.

The navigation data, which are based on global aeronautical information, are updated and organized monthly and can be customized to specific routes and for the use in any type of aircraft. The FMS database also contains important data to ensure the efficient engine power levels, resulting in fuel savings, said Lufthansa Systems.
