Germanwings applies new charges to excess baggage
Starting from 29-Mar-09 Germanwings will apply new charges for excess baggage. They will also change the weight of a bag on which the mentioned charge is calculated. Passengers flying on Germanwings now pay a charge in the amount of 7EUR on each kilogram over 23kg. From 29-March this year they will pay each kilogram over 20kg.

The fee for overweight of 20-30kg will be fixed in the amount of 20EUR. This new charging system will mean a significant saving to passengers. In comparison with the current system, from 29-Mar the passengers carrying more than 23kg will save a certain amount, while those carrying 30 kg will save up as much as 50EUR. Namely, instead of 70EUR they pay in accordance with presently used system, they will pay only 20EUR.

For Germanwings flights on 29-Mar passengers may report excess baggage even now at booking and pay it via Internet or the Call centre. It should be stressed that payment of excess baggage in this way enables passengers to make additional savings. If they do it at the airport, the charge will be 40EUR. If overweight is bigger than 30kg, passengers will have to pay 8EUR per a kilo according to the new tarrif. Regular fee per a bag remains unchanged in the amount of 5EUR.

We would also like to inform passengers that Germanwings is going to increase the number of flights during the summer time-table. In addition to current four on Tuesday and Saturday on destinations Cologne/Bonn and Stuttgart there will be an extra flight on Thursday at 13:45 on destination Cologne/Bonn.
