In 2007 the airline company expects to transport in excess of 70,000 passengers on 550 flights, linking Madrid and Venice.
With this new incorporation, Vueling will fly from Venice to both Barcelona and Madrid.
From Madrid, Vueling will fly to 13 different destinations, 6 international (Amsterdam, Lisbon, Milan, Paris, Rome, Venice) and 7 national destinations (Barcelona, Bilbao, Granada, Ibiza, Malaga, Palma de Mallorca, Santiago).
The start of the new route from Madrid to the Marco Polo airport in Venice coincides with the start of the spring season.
Vueling CEO, Carlos Munoz, said ... "The opening of the Madrid-Venice route fits into Vueling’s international expansion programme. It complements the increased Vueling activity at its Madrid base with the Vueling belief in the potential of Italian-Spanish air traffic.
"At the start of the spring season we envisage to increase our international routes and frequencies even more."
On April 28, 2006, Vueling started its first flight to Venice from Barcelona.
In the first months of operation Vueling transported a total of 60.000 passengers on the new route, which is way above the company`s initial expectations.
As from March 25 this year, the frequency of the Barcelona Venice route will increase to one flight a day.
