Jetstar reports profit of AUD51 million for first half 2007

Qantas subsidiary Jetstar's A320 operations contributed nearly 10% of its parent's before tax profit for the six months to 31 Dec-07. This compares with Jetstar's AUD10 million profit for the same period the previous year.
Over the same period, Jetstar's Revenue Passenger Kilometres increased by 57.8% and Available Seat Kilometres by 50.7% - leading to a 3.6% point higher seat factor at 79.3%. However, average yield decreased by 1.7%. This contrasts strongly with a Qantas Group yield increase of 8.3%, on the back of an actual reduction in capacity.
