Air Berlin reports traffic for first eleven months

Air Berlin announced (08-Dec-08) over the period from Jan-08 to Nov-08, the carrier transported a total of 26,752,602 passengers, 1.5% more than in the corresponding period of the previous year (2007: 26,363,830).

 

Fleet capacity utilisation for the first eleven months of 2008 was slightly higher than in the previous year, increasing from 77.6 to 78.8% (+1.2 percentage points).

With the start of the 2008/09 winter flight schedule in November, the efficiency program introduced in the spring has come into full effect.

Among other measures, capacity in November was reduced by a total of 6.3%. As a result, the number of passengers decreased by 5.5% to reach 1,942,308 (2007: 2,055,010). Capacity utilization increased from 72.0 to 72.6%, i.e. an increase of 0.6 percentage points. Air Berlin's revenue per available seat kilometre ("Yield per ASK") showed double-digit growth, rising from EUR4.30 cents to EUR5.18 cents, a 20.2 % increase over the corresponding month of the previous year.
