Sydney-London fares to drop 28%
Sydney-London one way fares will drop to as low as USD540 one way, including taxes, some 28% below the cheapest available discount fares currently in the market, according to Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation research (CAPA).
The Centre’s analysis* is based on the just-announced Jetstar route from Sydney-Kuala Lumpur (commencing in Sep-07), linking with an AirAsia service to Macau and Oasis Hong Kong service from neighbouring Hong Kong to London Gatwick.
“For savvy travelers, LCCs are opening up a range of cheap travel opportunities across Asia – and now to many destinations around the globe. This is just one of many combinations now possible and once again demonstrates the remarkable role LCCs are playing in redefining air travel worldwide”, said Peter Harbison, the Centre’s Executive Chairman.
Peanuts.aero was officially launched today, providing a who’s who of the global LCC sector. Powered by the Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation’s extensive information and data services resources and backed by its expertise as a world leader in LCC trends, Peanuts.aero is the world’s first dedicated LCC industry website.
* Analysis based on 23-Oct-07 departure from Sydney to Kuala Lumpur with Jetstar (USD195), 24-Oct-07 AirAsia departure from Kuala Lumpur to Macau (USD63) and 25-Oct-06 Oasis Hong Kong departure from Hong Kong to London Gatwick (USD281).
