Maurice J. Gallagher Jr., Allegiant Air president & CEO, said, "We are extremely pleased to expand the Allegiant brand of low–fare, nonstop jet service to the midwestern Kentucky and southern Indiana community. This is an exciting new addition for our airline and our customers as we launch the only nonstop, scheduled air service out of Owensboro."
The new flights to Orlando will operate twice weekly, with service Wednesday and Saturday. Flights will depart Owensboro–Daviess County Regional Airport at 9:20 a.m. arriving in Orlando Sanford International Airport at 12:20 p.m. Flights leaving Orlando will depart at 7:35 a.m. arriving in Owensboro at 8:40 a.m. (all flight times are local.)
U.S. Senator Jim Bunning (R–KY), who supported the runway extension project that made Allegiant service possible at Owensboro said, "I am thrilled that Allegiant Air will now be operating flights to and from the Owensboro Airport. Not only will these added flights help better meet the travel needs of those living in and around Daviess County, but this new partnership will also provide an economic boost to the region by bringing in more jobs and tourism. This is great news for the Commonwealth."
Allegiant will utilise 150–seat, MD–80 series, jet–aircraft on the route.
Allegiant’s USD69* one–way introductory fare is limited, not available on all flights and must be purchased by 03-Dec-08, for complete travel by 30-Apr-09. After the introductory fare period, regular one–way fares on the route starts from USD89 one–way.
