Air Berlin reports revenue growth for Oct-08

Over the period from Jan-08 to Oct-08, Air Berlin transported a total of 24,810,294 passengers, 2.1% more than in the corresponding period of the previous year (2007: 24,308,820 passengers). Fleet capacity utilisation for the first ten months of the year rose from 78.1 to 79.3%.

 

For the month of Oct-08, Air Berlin increased its revenue per available seat kilometre ("Yield per ASK") to EUR 6.20 cents, i.e. an increase of 21%. Revenue per available seat kilometre improved, even though the accumulated number of passengers transported declined by 4.4% to 2,703,179 (2007: 2,826,198 passengers), due to a targeted capacity reduction of approximately 80,000 seats. Fleet capacity utilisation for the month of October declined by 1.6 percentage points and reached 80.1 %.
