SpiceJet confirmed (27-Mar-06) it would add five new B737-800s by Dec-06, as part of plans to increase its domestic market share in India from 6.5% currently to 10% by Dec-06.

The carrier expects to operate a fleet of at least 30 aircraft in the next three years, with ten additions each in 2007 and in 2008.

Meanwhile, SpiceJet is reportedly considering various capital raising methods, including issuing foreign currency convertible bonds, to fund the acquisition of the aircraft.
