Darwin Airport welcomes Jetstar to commence daily Brisbane-Darwin-Bali flights

These new services will be the only daily offering to Bali from Melbourne and Brisbane, meaning that travellers now have total flexibility in making their travel plans.

DIA has released a draft Major Development Plan (MDP) for the terminal expansion project, which must be approved by the Federal Government prior to the project commencing. The Airport is also in discussions with its airline partners on a new pricing path for the expanded terminal.

Over the next couple of years however, the Airport is anticipating some growing pains until the terminal expansion comes on line. On this basis, the airport is working with airlines to ensure that they provide suitable schedules to ensure that passenger inconvenience is minimised.

DIA Chief Executive Ian Kew said, “While we welcome the additional services, we are mindful of the existing pressures, particularly in the international arrivals hall, check in and departure lounges.  “We have expressed these concerns to our airline partners to ensure that together we are taking the appropriate measures to mitigate any passenger inconvenience through their scheduling process until such time that we are able to construct and deliver our expanded airport terminal.”

From 03-Dec-08, Top end travellers will now have 10 flights per week between Darwin and Bali, with daily Jetstar services and 3 services per week from Garuda Indonesia.
