Maurice J. Gallagher, Jr., president, CEO of Allegiant Air said, "We are extremely pleased to again expand the Allegiant brand of low-fare, nonstop jet service to the Bismarck community," "This is an exciting new addition for our airline and our customers as we launch the only scheduled service between Bismarck and Arizona."
The self-proclaimed "Official Airline for Sunshine" will launch the new scheduled service from Bismarck Municipal Airport to Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport with two flights weekly on Wednesday and Saturday. Service will begin Oct. 18 with flights departing Bismarck at 9:10 p.m. arriving in Phoenix-Mesa at 10:05 p.m. Flights leaving Phoenix-Mesa will depart at 3:45 p.m. arriving in Bismarck at 8:30 p.m. (all flight times are local.) Allegiant inaugurated low-cost, nonstop service to Las Vegas May 3, 2004.
Greg Haug, Bismarck Airport Manager said, "Phoenix-Mesa will be a great addition to the nonstop airline service from Bismarck," "In 2007, Phoenix was the 4th most popular destination for Bismarck area travelers."
The airline commented market research and input from local community leaders indicate the Bismarck community will welcome the new nonstop flights and low fares to Phoenix-Mesa as an alternative to connecting flights and long drives to other airports. Allegiant will utilise 150-seat, MD-80 series, jet-aircraft on the route.
