MANILA (XFN-ASIA) - Cebu Pacific Air Inc will start flying an all-new Airbus fleet tomorrow, the company said.
The Airbuses replace the DC-9s that the airline has used for the past 10 years.
The airline unit of conglomerate JG Summit Holdings Inc said in a
written statement that it now had the youngest set of planes in the
country and one of the youngest in Asia, with a fleet age of less than
seven months.
Cebu Pacific president Lance Gokongwei said the airline's 670 mln-usd
re-fleeting program was almost complete. Airbus has delivered 10 new
aircraft and will bring in four more between now and next February.
"With our brand new and bigger Airbus planes, we will be able to offer
more seats at lower fares to the public," Gokongwei said.
Cebu Pacific serves 17 destinations in the Philippines, and also flies
to Hong Kong and Seoul. It will also resume flights to Singapore on Aug
31.
